Record Attendance for 2026 Oasis Otters Twilight Encouragement Meet

The annual Oasis Otters Twilight Encouragement Meet, held on 9 May 2026, attracted record-breaking attendance, with registrations closing early due to overwhelming demand. While the popularity of this year’s event was exciting to see, it unfortunately meant many swimmers missed out on securing a place.

A total of 195 swimmers took part in the meet, including 160 swimmers representing 19 Victorian swimming clubs such as Tigersharks, Cardinia Piranhas, Swimland, South East Aquatics, Nunawading and Boronia Penguins, along with 35 unattached swimmers. Their participation helped create a fantastic atmosphere filled with fun, excitement and competitive racing.

Swimmers competed across a range of events, including:

  • 50m Butterfly
  • 50m Backstroke
  • 50m Breaststroke
  • 50m Freestyle
  • 100m Freestyle

The event also showcased the latest technology, with live results displayed on televisions throughout the venue and published online in real time, allowing swimmers and spectators to access results free of charge during the meet.

The evening ran smoothly and finished on schedule, with plenty of smiles, new friendships formed and full bellies at the end of the night. Countless photos were taken with coaches, family, friends and medals, capturing memories that will last a lifetime.

Most importantly, those photos may have captured a significant moment in Oasis history. The 2026 Twilight Encouragement Meet could potentially be the final one held at the much-loved Oasis facility. For many, it was a fitting farewell to a centre where they once swam as children and, years later, had the opportunity to watch their own children race.

A special thank you goes to the South East Leisure team, whose ongoing commitment to providing outstanding facilities and support continues to make events like this possible for the swimming community.
