A healthy lifestyle for the entire family has both physical and mental benefits for all family members and it is a great way to increase family bonding.
Child obesity has risen at an alarming rate, with many children forming unhealthy eating habits and not doing enough physical exercise. Many parents are time poor and fitness is not prioritised. In addition to this, many families seem to be spending less quality time together.

- Start the day right
Breakfast is an important source of energy for the day. Skipping breakfast will often leave you and your children hungry by late morning. This leaves you prone to snacking on unhealthy foods throughout the day. So start the day right with a healthy food option!
- Game on
Play a family game of sport; head into the backyard or the park and have a game of soccer, basketball or have a running race! Teaming children against parents is also a great way for siblings to strengthen their relationships as well.
- Get into whole grains
Replace white grains with whole grains. Whole grains in bread, rice and pasta are a healthier alternative to white grains which are stripped of vital nutrients. Give children whole grains from a young age to set them up with some healthy eating habits for life.
- One a day
Try to make sure you spend at least one meal a day together as a family. Turn off the TV and turn up the talking. Communication is one of the best ways to bond.
- Gym it together
